DANVILLE, Va. (September 1, 2017) – Hunt-Sellers Racing announces today that Sam Hunt will pilot the No. 18 Hunt-Sellers Racing/Lululemon Athletica Toyota Camry during the Visit Hampton 150 at Langley Speedway on Monday evening.
Hunt is excited to get to Langley Speedway – a track he has had circled on the calendar since the schedule was released – as it is his home-track on the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East schedule.
“Langley is extra special to me because it’s a race track I grew up around and have raced on multiple times before,” Hunt said. “It’s in my home state of Virginia, and I’ve grown close to the staff and local racers who race there every week. The weekly fan base Langley has is unmatched.”
Hunt-Sellers Racing has put in a lot of effort in preparing for the Visit Hampton 150 on Monday night. The team entered the No. 4 Lululemon Athletica late model in the Hampton Heat 200 at Langley Speedway so that Hunt could get valuable experience on the track before the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East came to the city of Hampton.
“I feel that the Hampton Heat 200 late model race provided me with the ultimate test session for me as a driver,” Hunt said. “The cars drive completely differently, but the laps were invaluable. Learning how the track changes throughout the day, where the best passing points are, and just learning the true racing line was extremely helpful.”
Hunt was also able to gain valuable experience with crew chief Nathan Kennedy during the Hampton Heat 200.
“People underestimate how important it is to have a really good relationship with your crew chief, so being able to have Nathan there with us boosted my confidence heading into the K&N weekend,” Hunt said.
Not only did the team enter the Hampton Heat 200, but also tested the No. 18 K&N car at Langley Speedway last week.
“My confidence is as high as it’s been in a long time,” Hunt said. “We weren’t perfect at the test, but I felt like we unloaded with competitive speed and a car that was extremely drivable. We still have a way to go Monday, but my expectations for our team are as high as they’ve ever been.”
“Our goal is to spoil the party of the series regulars, and be the joker card thrown into the normal deck.”
Hunt says this opportunity wouldn’t be possible without the support of his team, sponsors, and friends and family.
“I’ve got to thank everyone that’s helped me put this race together. The guys at HSR have done a great job preparing a solid race car. Another huge thank you to Toyota, Lululemon Athletica, and all of the other great supporters of myself and my team. I’m looking forward to racing in front of my home crowd.”
