Hunt-Sellers Racing driver Colin Garrett, wheelman of the No. 18 PropelGPS Toyota Camry, is focused and determined for the final two races of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East season at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on September 22 and Dover International Speedway on October 6.
“The entire season has been a learning experience for me, so, just like every race, I’m looking forward to the experience I’m going to gain,” the rookie driver said. “We’ve had some bad luck the last few months but I’m confident we will be able to head back to New Hampshire and excel after we had a good race at Gateway.”
Garrett, who made his first trip to New Hampshire in July, is excited to build on his 13th place finish. He expects the track conditions to be different since the national touring series will not be competing there this weekend.
“I feel like the track will be completely different since they aren’t laying down PJ1, but I’m still confident going back to New Hampshire after having more experience in my #18 Propel GPS Toyota Camry.”
A month has passed since the last time the KNPSE hit the track at Gateway Motorsports Park allowing team owner Sam Hunt a lot of time to reflect on the season so far and focus on the final two races.
“My confidence is pretty high heading into these final two races,” Hunt said. “We’ve regrouped and are definitely more comfortable heading back to Loudon…I expect us to continue our progression from where we left off last race there and for Colin to keep gaining confidence and get us where we need to be on track.”
Following New Hampshire this Saturday afternoon, the focus of the team will shift to the high banks of the Monster Mile in Dover, Delaware.
“I’m really excited to head to Dover. As tough as it is, I think it may end up suiting Colin’s driving style as much as anywhere we’ve been this year. Once he gets through his first few laps and gets comfortable I think he’ll be exceptional,” Hunt said.
Dover has been marked on Garrett’s calendar since he joined HSR. The Monster Mile is a track that he believes will favor into in driving style more than most because of the high banking and high speed.
“Dover reminds me a lot of Dominion Raceway where we have had tremendous success over the past couple years,” Garrett said. “I think the guys at Hunt-Sellers Racing will have a good car ready for us and I’m excited to showcase my ability on a track that suits my driving style.”
Looking back on the season as a team owner, Sam Hunt couldn’t be more proud of the dedication and effort of everyone involved with HSR.
“I’m incredibly proud of this season. We set out to run a couple races and turned into a full-time operation in a matter of days. I’m proud of the highs, and I’m proud of how all of us continue to learn and grow through the adversity. The group of guys that work on this car is the most loyal and passionate people I know. The effort and sacrifice it’s taken to put this season together are second to none.”
